Mayor Jack Lee Norm Mike Larry Chris Brad

LEE

LEE is employed at Universal Music and, although weíre not exactly sure what his title is, weíre pretty certain it contains the words "smarty pants" in it somewhere. In 2003 alone, he has contributed his talents to compilations by such artists as Brian Setzer, Suzanne Vega, Maria McKee, Rob Zombie, Joni Mitchell and the Osmond Family ("Crazy Horses is a classic!" says LEE) and he wrote liner notes for Millennium Collections by John Hiatt, Lone Justice and, uh, Asia. (And you thought having to clean the bathroom was a dirty, thankless job!) He was also a project assistant for the Judee Sill reissues on Rhino Handmade and it would make him very happy if you bought them.

  01. Sparks - Lil' Beethoven (Palm Pictures)
This album reveals more of its brilliance play after play. It'll probably be the best album of next year, too. God bless the Brothers Mael.

02. Jayhawks - Rainy Day Music (American)
Quite simply the most listenable album of the year. Like your favorite sweater, it always fits, feels good and make you feel warm.

03. Fountains Of Wayne - Welcome Interstate Managers (S-Curve)
A record that never fails to please whoever hears it. Hooks, smiles, cringes, laughs - a fun, fun listen from a (too) long ignored band.

04. Radiohead - Hail To The Thief (Capitol)
Again, they make magic. They do.

05. Fleetwood Mac - Say You Will (Reprise)
Listen and learn. Better songwriting and musicianship are like heroes - hard to find.
